Accepting leadership is part of creating a better world and empowering the next generation.
Communication Research Group (CRG)
Established in early 2023, I have had the privilege of coordinating the communication research group (CRG) at the University of Southern Mississippi, a community of faculty and graduate students committed to creating meaningful media and communication scholarship. Our weekly meetings have included discussions about research ethics, principles of research design, presenting and publishing work, and artificial intelligence. Students have practiced conference presentations, research talks, and have engaged in workshops related to statistical analysis, qualitative analysis software, and research-informed teaching practices. This is one of my favorite platforms for establishing the next generation of communication scholars!
Rural Digital Forensics Initiative (RDFI)
Supported by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Rural Digital Forensics Initiative (RDFI) is actively developing a training lab solution for digital forensics that is applicable to rural communities across the United States. Specifically, this ongoing project includes the establishment of a working digital forensics laboratory and digital content production studio on the University of Southern Mississippi campus. Together, these facilities are being used to create training content for law enforcement to better understand digital forensics processes and capabilities, supporting rural law enforcement efforts nationally.
My role is to lead the RDFI studio, a facility designed for the design, production, and distribution of training materials. Working alongside experts in criminal justice, students employed in the RDFI studio are creating content with real-world impact!
